About Us

The Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency Program is a four-year curriculum that focuses on providing residents with in-depth knowledge combined with professional and technical skills.
Dedicated Teaching Faculty
The teaching staff of the obstetrics and gynecology residency program consists of more than 40 physicians. Of these physicians, three are Reproductive Endocrinologists, three are Maternal-Fetal Medicine Subspecialists and two are Gynecologic Oncologists - one of whom also serves as Program Director. The remaining members of the teaching staff are practicing obstetricians/gynecologists who provide one-on-one teaching and coverage for labor and delivery, operating room and ambulatory clinics.
Extensive Technical Training
The teaching staff is very committed to providing technical experience for the residents by utilizing virtually every patient
admitted to the service as teaching patients. By completion of the program, all residents are very experienced in vaginal surgery, including reconstructive procedures and urogynecology. Residents also receive intensive instructions in laparoscopic and hysteroscopic surgery and in colposcopy and electrosurgical procedures.
The oncology service provides a full spectrum of care. The chief residents provide direct assistance to attending gynecologic oncologists. Extensive experience is obtained in radical surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation therapy.
Level III Obstetrics Center
The Aultman Birth Center features 30 Labor, Delivery, Recovery, and Postpartum (LDRP) suites and three state-of-the-art, high-risk delivery suites. Our designation as the only Level III obstetrics site in our five-county service area means that you will gain experience in both normal and complicated deliveries. The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, with 25 private rooms, is supported by an on-site staff of neonatologists.
An Emphasis on Knowledge
Clinical instructions occur daily o the floors. Didactic lectures take place twice weekly in addition to a half day of educational conferences during which residents are relieved of most clinical responsibilities each Friday. A resident research paper is required by the completion of the PGY-3 year. An Obstetrics and Gynecology Resident Research Day at Northeast Ohio Medical University (NEOMED) gives residents of all area hospital-based programs associated with NEOMED an opportunity to share and be recognized for research findings. Residents receive a subsidy and time off for extramural conferences during all four years of the residency. Participation in professional and academic organizations is encouraged.
